use caution when handling these chemicals so as to avoid irritation.

the gums and surrounding soft tissue. If this procedure is performed in a
dentist office, a custom fitted tray as well as a rubber shield would help to
ensure that the chemicals could not get onto the gums. A mouth guard can greatly
reduce one of the disadvantages to tooth whitening, it still has the potential
to be risky.
Another of the disadvantages of tooth whitening is that some may experience
sensitivity after the process. For some it is a mild discomfort when the teeth
comes into contact with a hot or cold item, and for others it can slightly more
uncomfortable. This is usually a short-term side effect that only lasts a short
time after the treatments have ended. For some this mild discomfort may be
considered a major disadvantage.
One more of the disadvantages of tooth whitening is the inconvenience of the
process. Whether the procedure is done at home or in a dentist office it will
still interrupt your day. Whether the procedure is a simple bleaching or a laser
treatment it will still take time. If, however, the home bleaching
treatment is more your preference, it will still be a slight inconvenience.  Wearing the strips for half an hour in the morning and at night before you go to
bed may have you wishing that you had opted for the dental procedures.
Whether it’s dental procedures or at home treatments, it is still a bother and one
of the many disadvantages of tooth whitening.
