A laser tooth whitening process is one of the best methods for fast teeth
whitening. The laser treatments, which ever one you choose to use such as
LaserSmile, all work the same. They are designed to whiten your teeth and
do it quickly.
Simple Steps for Fast Teeth Whitening
The LaserSmile treatment bases itself around a hydrogen peroxide gel that
“bleaches” the teeth. The gel us usually prepackaged for the dentist to provide
ease of use. The gel is 37% hydrogen peroxide that has a pH balance of around 7.
The LaserSmile system uses a diode laser that acts as the bleaching agent. It is
a fairly expensive system that can cost the dentist around $20,000, but it can
be used for other applications as well.
The teeth are usually prepared by first protecting the sensitive areas in the
mouth that could be hurt by the laser and the gel. The dentist will usually do
this by coating the gums with a gel that is comforting. Once this step is
accomplished the dentist can then begin the fast teeth whitening process. The
laser will emit a light that is between a range of 798-815nm. This range is
close to the infrared wave on the electromagnetic spectrum. The laser does not
heat the tooth up because the exposure time is short, generally about 15 seconds
and each tooth will only be exposed for about 2 to 4 minutes.
How Long is the Process
Most treatments at home will take about an hour, 30 minutes during the morning
and 30 minutes during the night for weeks. The ordinary treatments at a dental
office will take about the same amount of time, but you will see better results.
Repeat visits, however, are needed before your teeth will reach their full white
potential. Laser treatments still require time, but are faster then the home
treatments and you will see greater results. The ordinary laser treatments only
take about 24 minutes on average for the whitening effect.
Including the time that is spent waiting, preparing and finally treating you, you
will spend about an hour at the dentist office. When the treatment is over, you
will be able to see a difference after just one visit. You will be able to leave
the dentist office and smile showing off your newly whitened teeth.
